Hands up who would like a bit of extra excitement on their trip?  All of you? Good!  Well how about this kind of excitement:

Losing your luggage.

Having your flight delayed.

Having your flight cancelled.

Buying a bus ticket in a foreign country and ending up 200 miles away from
where you wanted to be because of a language misunderstanding.

Being on a clapped out bus with seating for 20 – with 76 other people and a variety of animals.

Being arrested and interrogated by bloodshot eyed immigration officials with big guns and bad tempers.

Being stripped naked and searched said officials who are convinced you are hiding a weapon when in fact you have metal pins in your leg following an operation.

Being picked up by taxi drivers who rob you and dump you by the side of the road.

Being fed drugged food and robbed by ‘friendly’ locals when you’ve passed out.

Being arrested on trumped up charges and thrown in a filthy jail cell.

Being sodomised by other inmates in said cell.

Falling off a mountain.

Skiing over a ravine.

Catching Malaria.

Catching HIV.

Being in a plane crash.

Ending up in a hospital where the staff appear to be insane and know nothing about medicine – oh and there’s no equipment either.

Receiving 30 lashes for violation of a law that you never knew existed.

Getting beaten near to death by a raging mob.

Getting kidnapped by radicals or terrorists who threaten to saw off your head with a big knife.

Getting kidnapped by radicals or terrorists who do saw off your head with a big knife.

*Not* that kind of excitement you say?  You do surprise me.  All of the above have happened to unfortunate tourists at one time or another and some of them (hopefully the more minor ones) might have happened to you.

If they have, then we’d like to hear about it – especially if there’s something our users could learn from your experience. Even if there’s not, send it to us anyway for our readers' enjoyment. Send them in to stories@helpandhost.net
